Hakusansai Fujin Raijinzu Togaku (箔燦彩風神雷神図陶額)
This is a gold-painted porcelain which Ono-san has crafted.
Japanese togaku is painted ceramic board, and of course it's baked.
He uses different kinds of leaf such as gold, platinum, and colors.
It's one of a kind.
All handmade.
Ono-san was inspired from the picture painted by Tawaraya, Sotatsu.
Tawaraya was a painter in the early Japanese Edo period (1603-1690).
These two gods are forming the pair.
Fujin - he blows storm from a bag and people wanted to get typhoon under control, so they celebrate the fujin.
Rajin - is a deified version of thunder and lightning. The raijin is believed to bring a good harvest so as not to strike lightning.
The material of frame is made from acrylic glass.
The work is better to avoid areas exposed to ultraviolet rays.
Using some kinds of foils, it might change color from long direct sunlight.
The picture is long with more than 70 centimeters.
