Aiiro Shino Mizusashi (藍色志野水指)

Aiiro Shino (藍色志野)
The technique called nezumi-shino.
It's one kind of Mino-yaki.
He got a hint from that.
Applying cobalt-blue slip between glaze and clay.
It reaches to a gentle and elegant pattern.
Kairagi (梅皮花)
Pattern -
Cracks like shark's skin like the picture above.
It has occured to shrinkage of glaze after being fired in a kiln.
It's also called kannyu in Japanese.
That's anything but broken, certailny available.
Sakai-san wants users to see the tension that the pattern brings.
Mizusashi (水指)
A fresh-water pot for tea ceremony.
It's one of the tea utensils called "o-chadougu".
It comes in a variety of shapes, cylindrical type is often used.
Comes with a lid.
Lid made of pottery : the same material as the main body called tomo-buta.
Lid made of urushi : a different material from the main body and is made of Japanense urushi called nuri-buta.
Mizusashi is used for the following purpose.
・Adding water to the tea kettle
・Cleaning tools and tea bowl.

Sakai-san has learned ceramic a lot under Kato Kozo who is the living national treasure, setoguro. He creates a new type of Shino-yaki in his own individuality.
