Yakishime Tatakimon Tsuobo (焼〆叩き文壺)
This is a Takeo ware jar which Matsuo-san has created.
He made the shape by throwning the potter's wheel.
This is the way we mold while hitting from inside and outside by two knds of batten woods.
We call this skill 'tataki', that produces decorative patterns through repetitive hitting tasks.
He made the jar tight entirely.
Like how to make 'yakishime dobin', it was baked with unglazed in the climbing kiln.
The jar is filled into the heatproof container with charcoal after firing.
It's fired in the gas kiln a second time to emerge different color.
Height : 25 cm
Diameter : 25.5 cm
He studied under Iwabuchi Shigeya in Kyoto in early life. Based on the skill of Karatsu ware, he tries to make new style of pottery.
